Gavin Robertson

Biography

I am Gavin Robertson who paints under the name of GAVINR but who does not wish to be considered a professional artist, having had no formal training in Art. I am nevertheless a very serious painter, a self-taught artist. I did receive the gold medal for Art when taking my "highers" at Dalziel High School, Motherwell in 1953 but pursued employment in Structural Engineering, Architecture and the Armed Forces rather than a career in Art as advised by the school at that time. It was only when I retired at the age of 65 that I found time to awaken my love of Art, painting and drawing purely for pleasure, working in watercolours, acrylics and oils, and exhibiting only occasionally with Hamilton South 60+ Art Group. The only major display of my work was the solo exhibition at Chatelherault Country Park, Hamilton in January 2015 to celebrate my 80th birthday. The range of my work covers Landscapes and Townscapes, Seascapes, Portraits, Miscellaneous and Figurative pieces, all painted on paper or sheet canvas. I hope you like my work.
