I think this is a terrific attempt for a first time. looking forward for more.

A really great result for a first attempt - the big bold brushstokes show real confidence and the colours are wonderful.

I agree with the above comments. I think this shows good observation and feel for the subject. A very nice painting!

I agree with the above comments, Sheridan. It's the sort of thing I have been trying to do, (but not en plein air). Given your style in this painting, you may wish to take a look at Tom Brown Fine Art web site for further inspiration. And let's see more of your work.

Thank you for your comments. Lionel - Only last weekend I was looking at Tom Brown's blog. It was his work that actually inspired me to give it a go. I have spent years working from photographs and I do think it all becomes a bit premeditated. I really enjoyed painting today - I will continue and I hope as I gain confidence it will show in my work.

I really, really like this Sheridan. Confident, bold brush strokes and it has all the information the viewer needs about the scene. Look forward to seeing more of your en plein air work.

I have also been looking at this lady's work. Her style is so confident and the results are very impressive: www.roosschuring.blogspot.co.uk

A lovely study. The brushwork is super!

Keep at it - once you start, you won't stop; and your paintings will have more life and fresher colour. Keep your eye open for contrasts.

Really assured piece and such great brush work

This is my first attempt at painting en plein air. it's certainly not a masterpiece but I think, with practice, it is something I could quite enjoy.
