Wonderful study. Super light and shade Lesley. The rock in the foreground with the reflections is great. I know it's just the photo, though the darks do look very" black" on my screen. Very distinctive style and I think this is a really good painting.

Oh Lesley, I can walk over those rocks and feel them under my feet! Wonderful palette, cool yet with the warmth of rocks which have felt the sun.

Thanks Derek :) It's my first go, after sitting on those rocks painting small en plein air for a week, at a studio painting. I'm looking forward to trying some more whilst it's all still fresh in my memory.

Hang on Studio Wall

25 x 30 cms oil on canvas. I spent last week in Cornwall painting plein air on the rocks around St Ives. By the end of the week I'd learned a lot, even though I'm not happy with the results. I took several photos to work from in the studio, this is the first of the studio paintings. I particularly love the light in Cornwall, and especially contre jour.
