This rose flowered in my garden on 2nd November. Aside from being rather late for this rose bush to bloom and it being the only one on it, the date was significant for me as it was a dear friend’s birthday who had died the year before. For me, it was a sign and I knew I had to paint it. And yes, it had been bucketing down that day!
