Thanks for the interesting details. I shall look out for Palm Sunday in the Fitzzwilliam. Enjoy your acrylics - you have got good strong colours here. I loved your insect too but never got round to saying so.

in French.... Le jour Rameaux a Boulogne, this version is terracotta.

Love your colours. I haven't done much in acrylics but it is great to be bold. Do keep on with it.

You can't really see it, but there is gold and bronze acrylic in there as well. I started with the thought that gold/bronze/ and a warm orangy colour might reflect that the statue was terracotta.. and then became distracted by the beautiful deep purples.... and then the acidy yellow. I picked the tube up, and it looked a warm yellow, BUT I was deceived. I was a little horrified at the colour, then decided to work with what I had done. Added the yellow touches to the purple to try and tone down the yellow backdrop. Only afterwards someone pointed out that I must have been fixated and distracted by yesterday's colouring of... wait for it... yellow and purple irises :)

Love the purple and yellow in this, really works well, shame on me for think it was darth vader "joking" Hope you do some more abstracts in acrylics Russ

My first venture into acrylics. In a class, we were supposed the select a small part of a picture/sculpture etc. and use a viewfinder to create an abstract painting. My subject is a sculpture by Amie Jules Dalou (called Palm Sunday) , a small terracotta piece in the Fitzwilliam museum in Cambridge, UK. Normally I don't use acrylics,as I can't manipulate them, but these were best quality, and still hadn't dried after about three hours... No, it's NOT Darth Vader :)
