The original photo was taken by Ricky Slaven who sadly is no longer with us. I was so inspired by this picture that I contacted his sister in Arizona to request permission to paint it. I feel the image captures an instant of life and survival of the fittest in the wild. The lethal calculating flight of speed of the bird and its historic raptors claws capturing that next meal displays the impact of that grasp in the water.
