What a lovely rendition of one of my favourite images and one of Britains most iconic places. Your sketch is worthy of the spectacle.

That's a nice effect Fiona. Good work.

First class sketching Fiona. Simplicity with power.

Love this! And a fabulous place too :)

This is such a different, refreshing take on the prettified paintings one usually sees of Bamburgh Fiona. It is wildly romantic with an enthralling rawness about it. Superb. Next time you’re in Northumberland you must allow me to tell you about some hidden gems you can discover.

Super sketch and composition Fiona. Very understated which makes it even more striking.

Well I always like to see tonal drawings Fiona, and you’ve got this one right. The all-important shadows look to be where they should be, you could have gone a lot darker perhaps on the right side of the hill - but as always, I’m nitpicking! Actually, an accomplished sketch, so well done!

Beautiful sketching, Fiona!

Nice. I like that

Great sketch Fiona, I love that beach.

Very good sketch, Fiona.

I love this Fiona it would fit the September challenge.

Terrific sketch, Fiona - and love the blue.

A fantastic sketch, Fiona. A real eye-catcher to me. What ink did you use? And what size is it?

This is wonderful Fiona especially as you say you managed to "scribble " a few sketches!! Some scribble. Well done. I'm looking forward to a whole series of sketches and paintings from your Northumberland trip.

Steve thank you very much.....what a place, a painters dream. Many thanks Jim, John and Margaret, appreciated. Carole, if only I had realised you knew all the best locations.....next time, there will be a next time. Thank you very much for your comment. Tessa, Alan, Chandra, Alan, Justin thank you all very much.

Many thanks Cesare, Linda, Jenny, Mia for your lovely comments. Mia it’s a Stabilo point 88 fine 0.4 blue. I have a black, sepia and the blue. I’ve had them about ten years and they are still going. If you use water on the ink before it dries it will bleed but once it’s dry very difficult. Carol thank you, I’m trying to pace myself regarding the paintings, I only managed a few sketches so will have to work from those with photos that Julian took. Will be in touch this weekend hopefully X

Lovely sketch of this castle and in blue line, really effective!

Many thanks Angela.

Sketchbook & pen. Spent some time in Northumberland this summer, my first visit. I was overwhelmed by the absolute magnificence of the place....stunning scenery, castles, beaches....it’s got it all in abundance. I managed to scribble a few sketches of various well known landmarks.
