The 'B' painting!

The 'B' painting!

Thought I was dreaming, is it 2011 again? What can I say? Actually, I daren't say anything except where have the three years gone....lol...Seriously though Fiona, now I'm over the shock, I will say that it's a beauty and it's lovely to see the old 'b' again!

I don't understand the reference to the 'B' painting but I do know that this is lovely Fiona! The colours are harmonious and the pen work just right.

I hadn't seen your orignal attempt (in 2011 gallery) so I went into that gallery to have a look. Wow. It bears no relation to the one you did three years ago. It's now fabulous and I can see you have really developed a strong style of your own.

I agree with Gudrun, a much lighter and brighter painting. Cropping the painting to a square format, so there is a lot less sky and crop the white bit off the bottom, may improve it, but maybe that's because I almost always paint square canvases, apart from that I think its perfect.

No you're not dreaming Louise! It's the dreaded 'BRIDGE'......I was trying so hard to improve upon the last one I think I went mad with the detail and washes, but never mind, even I think it's better than the original! Thanks for looking and commenting.

Christine, it's a long story but let me warn you, never say you're going to bin a painting, especially if Louise is watching! The 'B' stands for bridge or somethig rather more colourful if it's not going well, as the original of this one didn't. Thank you very much for your comment.

Thank you Gudrun, you're very kind to say so. Thanks also Kevin for the idea of cropping it, I'll have a go.

Love this Fiona, beautiful artwork

Apologies for any stress caused last time ..lol..(not really!)

Guess what Louise.....I've put loads of pictures in the bin since....nah, nah, n nah nah!!!!!Lol.

Thank you very much Glennis, always appreciate your comments.

Lovely soft colours, Fiona, which are a nice contrast to the stronger tones of the stonework of the bridge. Pen and wash is harder than people think as getting the balance right is crucial. I don't thing you are far wrong with this one, but then you have always been so good with the pen and you seem to know exactly where to place the washes.

I think the purple, pinks and greens contrast nicely; brightens the painting and keeps it lively.

Many thanks Thea and Paul for your very kind comments.

Pen & wash of an old enemy! Still not right, too busy. Any suggestions Louise?
