Thank you Timothy.

Rough and ready, you say...well, it conveys the scene beautifully.

Another good one Barry.

I like rough and ready, especially when it looks like this Barry......a beauty!

Thank you Lewis, Jim and Fiona, rough and ready is usually good as you don’t have time to overthink things.

Super result as well Barry, a great overall coordination with the colour scheme.

Thank you Alan, I used a fairly limited palette which is one of the learning points I am trying to emphasise.

Always love your barge painting Barry in fact all your works are top notch consistently with great atmosphere

It certainly not rough and ready, Barry. It’s beautiful.

Many thanks Dennis and Ellen, I am so glad I started visiting East Anglia as it introduced me to Thames barges.

Lovely understated work Barry

Thank you Thalia and Linda.

This is so beautifully fresh with the clean, crisp washes. Lovely

Gorgeous! Makes me remember being there

Good work, Barry.

This conveys the scene extremely well and I wish I could paint rough and ready as well as this. Perfect.

Thanks Diana, I try when I can not to overwork and keep things fresh.

lovely painting, Barry, love the misty atmosphere achieved in your painting.

Thanks Karen, perhaps there will be another free week at Dedham and we can all get together in which case a visit to Haybridge Basin would be a definite.

Thank you Cesare, Tony and Willie for your lovely comments.

Thank you Margaret.

Wonderful watercolour Barry

Thank you Maureen.

Very nice, my son lives in Heybridge and we saw one of these barges while we were on a boat trip. I thought at the time it would make a good subject to paint but I never got around to it.

Thank you Janet, whenever I am in the area painting I try to visit as not only is there plenty to paint but there is a good pub for lunch and a pint.

Thank you Gudrun.

Lovely gentle watercolour Barry, very wet looking water!

Thank you Stephen.

A subject I painted Plein Air last year and revisited earlier in the week. I am helping a fellow member of our Art Group with watercolour technique and chose this as a subject to paint. I prefer the original but as I usually do get a better feel for the subject when it’s in front of me that’s not unexpected. As i had asked him to do his version based on my photo first so that he was applying his own decisions to his work eg composition, palette etc, I only had half an hour so this is a bit rough and ready.

About the Artist
Barry Hulme
