Love this composition Margaret.

It really didn't take any composing. That's exactly how it was in real life. The centre building with the shrub growing out of the window was abandoned - obviously a casualty of the 1991 bombing. All the buildings along the front of this little harbour were shelled from the sea during theYugoslavian wars. Most have been repaired and are functional once more, but quite a few are too badly damaged and have just been abandoned. Croatia isn't too bad now but Bosnia is still in a terrible state.

Mlini Harbour, Croatia. This was painted on site, very loosely in watercolour and then soft pastel was used on top on the watercolour when it was dry. I find this a very effective, quick method of producing a picture when you are pushed for time. It took just over an hour.
