Margaret you have a unique style of using watercolours resulting in a very fine gallery.

This is a fabulous painting, you have a lot of talent :-)

Thank you Pat - but this isn't watercolour, it's oil paint on stretched canvas!

Super painting Margaret, lovely reminder of a great state occasion. I can understand Pat's comment, as the sky especially has a watercolour feel to it, very clever to get that with oils.

Thankyou very much Stephen. I DO usually paint watercolour because I teach watercolour painting. However, painting skies in oils is an absolute doddle compared to doing them in watercolour. With watercolour you have approximately two minutes to get it right - while the paper is just at the right stage of dampness - and then you must leave it alone! With oil you can fiddle about for days to get the effect you want.

This is fantastic Margaret! You've captured the essense of the day, especially the weather!

Lovely painting Margaret, the sky is really good.

My goodness, I admire your patience with all that detail. I was there on that day and looking at your painting I can remember the chilly rain now!! Really evocative.

If I thought the watercolour was good - this is exceptional. So much detail! And that sky is superb. Definately one for the Best Of Britain competion surely?

Thanks for the advice Tony. I'll enter it and see what happens!
