The lovely old harbour at Crail has much to offer the artist, but whichever way you look the view is rather complicated. My aim here was to create a sunny aspect, with the background buildings reduced in detail with a hazy approach. The lower buildings, with their crow-stepped gables (where steps run up alongside the ends of the roof), make for attractive features and I emphasize these as the focal point.
