The Grow Old Disgracefully competition was launched earlier this year, inviting all artists aged 90 and above to enter their work on the theme 'Happy Times'.

Nonagenarians took the subject to heart and editor of The Artist, Sally Bulgin, and artist Adrienne Parker had a great time drawing up a shortlist of 20 joyful paintings, from which Dame Judi Dench selected the happy scene below by Felicity Gladstone as the winning entry.

Felicity wins £200, an annual subscription to The Artist and will have a tree of her choice planted near her home.
