Christine this is gorgeous. Just wonder how long it will keep? Though probably for a long time. Have just been on the beach ..no cuttlefish fish but plenty of jelly fish. Don't think they would work as well.

Thank you Sylvia, I think it should keep quite well, time will tell! I collected a few of these bones and am now trying to decide what else I can paint on them, they are so obviously fish shaped that it is difficult to get beyond that. Ideas welcomed. i agree, Jelly fish don't provide the best painting surface!

A big eye...

I am envious of your access to the beach - I am currently working quite a lot with odd bits of wood which have been weathered and creating similar subjects as this which is so well painted - shouldn't think you'll have problems with longevity at least not our lifetimes.

Lovely and so wonderfully nautical. Super colours and a great idea.

What a brilliant idea. I guess it has great texture. I love the colours in your smiley mackerel.

Christine this is really lovely - so effective and the background is so appropriate. The colours in the fish are gorgeous. If you have more of these cuttlefish bones you could paint a whole shoal of fish.

Who is the clever lady? This is so imaginative and beautiful Christine! You can make a whole collection of them and put up a shop on the beach!!

Thank you so much everyone for your kind comments. We've just had the Open Houses Art Trail here in Worthing and I wish I'd thought of this before as I think they would have been popular, Ah well, there's always next year! Thank you Satu for your comments on my previous posts too.

I agree. This is a lovely painting and a great idea.

Thank you Dawn, it was fun to do!

Christine, my daughter is moving to Worthing, near Brighton, soon. She is a very good artist by the way, so I might see you one day there.

It would be lovely to meet up with you when you visit, please let me know.

Just love this one, Christine! It's such a brilliant idea!

I went down to the beach looking for driftwood to paint on, no driftwood but hundred's of cuttlefish bones, they make a good surface for acrylic paint!
