It was cold in Japan as I sat sketching while waiting for a lift to a warmer place. The hanami (picnicking) families were 'booked-in' expectantly under the cherry trees whose blossoms didn't like the cold either. It made a sad scene. They wanted blossoms and I wanted to paint them -Ho, humm! -Pit-pen
