Evening Sentinel
A digital oil painting of the Cloch (Gaelic for stone) Lighthouse in Scotland. Built in 1797 to warn shipping away from a nearby dangerous reef. The light was first lit on August 11, 1797. Later the light was replaced with an argand lamp complete with a silver reflector in 1829. Around the turn of the 20th century the light was generated from acetylene. In 1931 a radio beacon was installed. I was drawn to the lines and form of the buildings and the light itself. They give a strong sense of an unwavering bulwark against the elements as well as an endurance that has extended over two centuries.
