Yes indeed Marjorie, painting portraits gives insights into the subject. I've been a Singer Sargent fan for a long time. I have a print of El Jaleo framed in a bedroom upstairs. ( I've just re-submitted a previous portrait copy of his on the gallery) I'm also a massive admirer of Sir William Russell Flint who painted lots of French Gypsy girls and have a dozen of his prints.
