G'day Jim , use these creatures a lot when sketching - more often than not without adding the water to them but sometimes as intended. You seem to have got strong colour value so how did you apply them ? - onto wet/damp paper , or applying water after the colour went down ? Of the ones I have , I think the Inktense are strongest values. ( I have about 300 assorted w/c pencils plus the Inktense range but invariably work from my sketching roll with a score of assorted colours) I think they are a useful tool but haven't yet considered them for a finished painting.

Definitely has possibilities Jim, you're inspiring me to think about these for planning.

Mike, as I said it's all very experimental yet, blind leading the blind etc. I used these on dry paper, pen and ink style and added water to blend. It was basically a colour try-out. I still prefer watercolour brushes to all else, but there are also plenty possibilities in acrylic that appeal right now.

Fooled me Jim I wouldn't have guessed this was a watercolour pencil work. You have achieved some strong bold colours and I think you are too hard on yourself it's a charming picture.

I'd say you've used them very well Jim, I think its colourful and vibrant.

Another addition Jim, that's how I use mine, colour first then add water.

It's good to experiment, Jim. I find watercolour pencils hard to work with, I keep getting them out on occasions as I can't abide wasting money. However, you've made a good job of this. The colours are good and suits your style of painting. Good one.
