Light, shade and a window No 2. by Jim Morris

Like both windows, Jim. And love the pot of flowers on the floor!

Nice shadows on the wall make this one jump out Jim. Been trying to work out what it is that makes all your watercolours so immediately recognizable? Not the subject matter, its so varied. Use of black or dark pigments perhaps? Palette ?Brushstrokes ? Still not worked it out, but keep them coming!

Thanks Bob and Sharon for the kind comments. Sharon, I don't use too much actual black , just a limited amount at times, but I use red, blue and sometimes green or browns to get the dark effects. I'm almost never nervous or afraid of my subject so maybe that reflects in what I draw or paint? I also experiment with colours on actual paintings. All I know is I rarely follow any rules and just enjoy what I do. If I'm not happy with the results I just tear them up but that's a rarity because we need to admit not everything we do is perfect, at least mine isn't. (-:

They are both lovely paintings Jim, agree with your comments I work very similar to yourself, no rules just try it and if it works ok if not scrap it.
