Even the rich and powerful have their problems, perhaps he should copy his father’s example and take up painting to take his mind off things!

Thank you for the comments. You have to lose a loved one to truly understand the loss of his mother at such an early age. Whilst I think his current behaviour foolish, I have some sympathy for him.
