I was walking down the road a month or two ago, and a sparrowhawk flew right across me, almost brushing my nose: had a smaller bird in his talons, and settled on the other side of the road to finish the poor creature off. I approached for a closer look, and the hawk spread its wings over its prey, and gave me a very nasty look ... well, they have to eat. I left him to it. Your picture reminds me of its speed, and the fluttering of its wings: swoop, bang, gotcher!

Super painting and not my favourite bird either but it's nature.

Love the sketchiness of this Jim. Loads of life in it!!

Experimenting. I don't really want to see hawks, beautiful as they are but you can always tell when they are about. All the finches, tits and sparrows etc in our garden go deathly quiet.
