Nice work, Jim. I tried charcoal and wash once, it didn't turn out as well as this.

Thanks Carole, David and Lew for the comments. I used a charcoal pencil Lew, which is a bit harder and smudges less than sticks. I don't use charcoal all that much. I have a full range of pencils from hard to soft (9B or so) my daughter bought me, I should draw more.

After Vincent Van Gogh's "The Prayer". More or less a copy. Spent an hour to get the figure something like proportionate. Charcoal pencil and wash. 12 x 8.
