Nice one Jim this is my favourite version, hope the song is not a long boring ballad.

......and fondly I watched her move here and move there. Love this folk song Jim, my favourite version by Fergal Sharkey. I'm going to put it on and listen to it now you've set the seed! This would make a great cover for the song.

Lovely image inspired by W. B. Yeats.

Thanks Barry, Fiona and Louise. No Barry, not long, quite short and very telling. Three verses are the norm, but there's a fourth one that isn't always sung that explains the ballad. "The people were saying that no two were wed, and one had a secret that never was said, And she smiled as she passed with her goods and her gear, and that was the last that I saw of my dear" Some great versions around including the one Sinead O'Connor did for the film " Michael Collins". I also like the rough, raw Sean M'Gowan, of The Pogues, version amongst many others. Ireland is rich in singers of songs outside of mainstream pop etc. (-:

Lovely, ethereal feeling here, Jim.
