Thanks Carole. Might seem an odd attitude, but I prefer trying portraits of fictional characters to those of celebrities which, the better they are, are almost photograpic, which isn't what I want to do. This way they get judged on how well they're painted as opposed to whether they look like mirror images. Gives room to highlight character...

A serious attempt at a portrait using the model style of Sir Thomas Lawrence. Jane Austen never described her charracters. All she said of Anne Elliot was that initially she was gaunt and worn, later blooming when she found her beloved Captain Wentworth. I've tried not to make her a model or beauty queen, but an attractive woman of twenty seven who care more about everyone than she does of herself. She is the central character of Jane Austen's "Persuasion".The painting is watercolour, 12 x 9 inches on 300 gsm paper.
