We have a blackbird who wakes me most mornings at about 5.15 singing outside our house, so this reminds me of that! They are beautiful birds and singers and you’ve captured this really well Vivienne. I love the use of blue.

Acrylic on canvas. This painting was directly inspired by two things. First I was outside in my little back garden at 5am (unable to sleep and having a quiet cup of tea) when a blackbird started singing his wonderful song of love . Second thing, the sky and moon. misty moon large, bright against a blue velvet sky with the cherry tree branches casting shadows. The Beatles song Blackbird came to mind. It took me ages to get the effect I wanted but in the end I enjoyed the process and the result. -++
