"Enigma" is the result of a challenge to paint a black jaguar. I have very few reference photographs of a full-length cat, so I had to settle for a portrait only. I found getting the effect of the dark fur more difficult than I originally thought but am quite happy with the result. I worked in soft pastels and pastel pencils on black velour paper, the size is approximately 12" x 10".
