I was given a box of art stuff containing a set of Crimson & Blake oil paints, snobbishly I thought these are rubbish I’ll just use these for underpainting. But I’m very impressed with how they work and mix. “Artists” can get very fussy about the quality of pigments and materials and often wear them like a badge of honour. I think the ‘surface’ is the thing I am most particular about, I do believe a quality structure needs a good foundation.
