Just scrolled back to compare ( difficult with this system ). This one is much more dramatic but can’t decide a preference because the atmosphere has changed. Which one do you prefer Martin?

Like the colour and dramatic effect.

Although very skilfully painted I prefer the first one as this one is a little overwhelming Martin.

I like both but I think I agree with Carole.

I prefer the first Martin. I think there is just enough light to draw the eye to the Castle. Whilst here, doesn't give quite the same effect. The Castle is swallowed up by the sky.

Thanks for your valued comments everyone. I think both have merits and negatives but I prefer the first one as its drama is more subtle and focused. The second is a bit busy though my wife prefers it for being more dramatic

I like this one out of the two Martin. I’m all for drama, it’s the first thing that hits me (or not) when I look at a painting, rather than whether it ticks all the expected boxes. Paintings like this make me hold my breath whilst I look and feel…….if all that nonsense makes sense.

All that nonsense does make sense Fiona, I completely get where you are coming from. It’s an emotional reaction to a painting rather than an analytical one.
