Just love the sunlight on this one!!

This is a lovely summer picture and in pastels too. It certainly shows in the painting that you thoroughly enjoyed painting it how long did it take you to do?

This is wonderful, Trevor. I can't imagine how you made the child look so wet with pastels, which are so dry... The whole picture sings of summer and happiness; well done!

Joy, thank you for your comment. I tokk about 8 hours fo studio work, but it is difficult to say precisely. There is a lot of time sitting and staring and when it is ,'finished', I put it on the wall of my studio and glance at it from time to time tweeking it for about two weeks.

Jane, thank you for your comment. This one of my first two posts and it is good to get positive feedback.

I love the way you have painted the sea, lots of light and movement - it's a great painting!

Had to compliment you on this superb pastel painting. I love the sunlight on the child and sparkling water, brilliant work.

Carole I love to work with light on beaches. I just like the way is 'bounces and seems to play. People often talk of the play of light. On beaches it seems to really enjoy itself. Thanks

A superb painting; I love the contre jour and the transparency of the sea is amazing

great image and techniquem super

Brian, thank you. This is a new environment for me and the support of all who have commented has been very welcome. Thank you.

Thank you Trevor on your kind comments about my work.

Trevor, just wanted to ask if you are a professional artist. If not, why not? All your work is excellent.

Julie Harris Beautiful use of pastel, love all your work.

Many congratulations Trevor for your 2 top ten, you really deserve it, brilliant work

Petra, thank you. I am a little surprised and very grateful. I have only just become a professional artist. I say become, I called muself that for the first time 3 weeks ago. However with no sales and a struggle to find galleries the support from here is great.. I would be interested in views and comments. I have been told that it is difficult to sell pastels? I am now starting to work in oils.

You're work will look amazing in oils. If you are not familiar with her, google the artist Sherree Valentine Daines (I think that's how you spell it), her work of children plying in the water remind me very much of your pictures. There is very much a Market out there for work of this quality so keep plugging away at it.

A fantastic painting. The sea looks so inviting!

Trevor I've just had a look at your portfolio....Wonderful

A wonderful dancing child at a cove on the South of the Isle of Wight. 15"x 15" . The light is midday and the sea full of reflected, refracted and transparent light and colour. The colurs are cool but the skin tones and shaddow areas allowed for warmer tones. A great day with the family drawing and watercolour sketching led to a painting I enjoyed doing.
