Very simple, but good, love the way you capture the moods, nice easy flowing washes, without overwork. Great portfolio, love the tonal exercise with Payne's Grey.

I know Rannoch Moor well as my father used to own the Loch Rannoch Hotel. It is such a bleak place - pretty unfriendly in bad weather too. I think you have been lucky enough to see it on a sunny day and it makes a lovely painting of the place looking a bit more hospitable. I do like the way you have brought the sunlight down to merge with the mountains - nice touch.

A lovely scene. I particularly like the clouds.

i love the sky, and it sort of reminds me of almost northern lights :-)

Lovely sky and a very nice composition.

Your pictures are all lovely, fresh and atmospheric. I think you have proven that 'less is more' as you seem to say a lot without going into detail. You know when to STOP painting! That's something I have trouble doing and have spoiled several paintings by fiddling too long! I am inspired to try a 30 minute challenge as you did. Well done!

A visual delight! The sky is wonderully atmospheric and I love the clear, simple foreground.

Thank you all for your kind comments. Jackie, Less is certianly more with most landscapes which can easily become cluttered and the focal point becomes diluted. You can always add detail later if your not sure but my advice would be to try a few minimalistic paintings, you'll be pleasantly suprised. Try these few simple rules; Use the largest brush possible Use the fewest strokes (don't overpaint) Simplify where possible Plenty of clean fresh water (it's cheap) And Don't fiddle Good Luck

Love the light and the glow of your washes. Beautifully done.

A2 imperial size watercolour using Rembrandt paints on Saunders Waterford 140lb paper. Here I tried to capture the ever changing light and mood of this fabulous part of the Scotish Highlands which never fails to inspire me.
