Watching your work, as I have been, over quite a time now, I'm struck by the steady improvement you've made. It's easy to criticize portraits especially, because we know what we're looking at and what we expect, and of course one could - but if we judge a portrait not by technical details but by impact, it's that impact that you've got increasingly good at achieving. A long while back, you weren't quite there - if I may take the liberty of saying so! - but then, there was a sort of bang in the ether, and you were; and certainly are with this one. I've got a bit of a wordy way of expressing myself, but what I mean is - I like this!
