Beautiful dog portrait in watercolour Timonthy, super work, he does look so contented

Lovely details and unusual pose, great painting.

Lovely work Timothy. The pose you have chosen makes Alfie look very appealing and you have really achieved the feeling of his head sinking into the cushion.

Beautiful, I'd like to know what he is thinking. 'How lucky am I' :)

I concur with the points made about the appealing nature of the subject, and how the picture engages at an emotional level. But it is also very good from a technical point of view, and the watercolour has been handled very well. I envy the manner in which the darks have been attained without creating mud, and frankly, I'd appreciate your comments Tim on how this has been achieved. Have the paints been applied quite dry or has allay earring technique been used. What colour combinations have Ben used to achieve the dark darks to the right of his ear and paw? These have been placed against lights but they are still dark but not clumsy. This is excellent.

Unusual composition here Tim, if i'm not mistaken i thought you had westie's??

This painting is just so beautiful.

Many thanks for all the kind feedback, I was happy with how quick this painting came together. Apart from a suitable use of Lemon for the quilt he's lying on; Only 3 colours were used - Paynes Grey, VanDyke Brown and Chinese White. Depths of colour mentioned by Philip, were acheived (hopefully) by layering and lifting the paint over and over. I hope it works. Good to hear from you, Jason.. get your new portrait on the gallery! this is a work colleagues best friend. I'm working on my westie's!

Love Alfie and also love your portrait of him. He looks so comfy and content.
