It's worked very well - lumpy old canvas or not. Amazing what you can find in old photos and sketches - maybe overlooked or even discarded at the time, but a fertile source for work years, even decades, later. Happens to me all the time, but then I've got an awful lot of sketches and photos - as perhaps you have. Anyway - keep ploughing through your archives, they came up trumps this time. Great sky, too.
