I don't think you have over done it with the ink Therese, I think you have struck a blance and it has worked well. It's a great pan & wash.

It certainly jumped off the page for me. A very nice composition :)

I have attended a course, recently, on pen and wash and have been so enthralled by it that I decided to have a go when I got home. I first did a very detailed pencil sketch of the scene from a photograph I had taken after sketching it on site, because I wanted to define where the darks and the lights were. In my studio I first draw the scene using ink and a matchstick (I think that was the way Edward Wesson draw his scenes), and then painted it. I think that my ink sketch is a bit too heavy and the next time I intend to use a bit less ink.
