I like the movement through the painting - incidentally (or not so incidentally) you've used acrylic here - and it can enforce a rather static impression, because the paint dries so quickly: I don't think that's happened with your painting, but am wondering if you also use other media, which would enable you more easily to keep the momentum going? I'd like to see this in oil, for example.

It was just acrylic paint, but I did quite alot of underpainting in different colours before putting the final coat of white on. I let each layer dry but sometimes use water on the brush to re wet the top coat to get the under colour if this makes sense. (Probably not the right thing to be doing). I really wish I had the paitence to work with oils as I know what you mean about acrylics creating a static impression. I hope to experiment more with glazes in the future. Thank you for your comments. Always good to get feedback as it informs my painting going forward.

I can see what you have explained about the under painting showing through the top wash of white Rachel. The colours in the underpainting are evident and add depth to the falls. I love the way the rocks foliage and water all flow in unison throughout the composition. I’m not an acrylic painter, except in mixed media stuff, I find it difficult to use. I use oils now and again and I agree with Robert, I think you would have a very different painting in oils.

Thanks Fiona, maybe since I don't have the paitence for oils I'll try to use more mixed media with my future paintings to give them more body. Just need to work up the courage. Appreciate your comments.
