How very remiss of me not to say that this is indeed St Paul's Bay where the saint was supposed to have landed

A powerful painting, Thalia.

Super painting, Thalia. The angle of the view makes a powerful image.

wow! beautifully done Thalia and full of drama

Great angle with the boat, stunning foreground.

Not a usual depiction of a wreck but this one is smashing

Thank you all very much, Ellen, Seth, David, Sandra and Derek for your very kind comments...I almost did not put this on POL. Now you've all made me glad I did!!! Thank you, Sandra, about the foreground....walking on it is not easy, and many areas here are as rough walking as this!

Fascinating and sad at the same time Thalia. Nicely caught.

thank you very much, Jim, and Richard, yes it does feel a sad picture...I get emotional over boats, and this one went through so much trauma during that dreadful storm.

Wow, that's a dramatic and impressive painting and a very suitable one considering the circumstances. Super work Thalia.

A great pity but a great subject.

According to the New Testament, St Paul was shipwrecked on Malta, bringing Christianity to the islands. This is celebrated annually by a huge Festa early in February. This year there was one of the worst storms of the winter over this period, and almost to the day of the Festa this poor boat was literally picked up by the enormous waves and literally thrown several metres on to the exceedingly rough shore. I took many photos afterwards, this view shows her in all her dignity, sadly now destined for the breakers' yard. We divers are hoping she may be dragged into deeper waters and become a reef to dive!
