That’s excellent Tessa, love how you have painted beyond the gate.

Very cleverly painted Tessa. Love the distance you have achieved.

Lovely sketch, Tessa, so many places still closed.

Love the way you left the outside unpainted, Tessa, lovely!

Like this a lot - amazing, isn't it, see a locked gate and you immediately want to go through it!

I really love this Tessa, especially the distant view

Many thanks Dixie, Carole, lesley,Mia, Heather and Hilary. Good point about the gate Heather, yes you do want to go through, especially somewhere like this that should be open, but would probably be closing soon for the winter anyway. Our daughter bought us NT membership for Christmas a few years ago and we were a bit disappointed to find nothing open until I think Easter. I wonder if Trust properties will survive all this awful time.

A lovely delicate sketch Tessa.

Love this Tessa! Such a light sketch with a great impact!

You have a graceful style.

Thanks so much Margaret,Chrissie, Nandhini and Diane. Your comments are always appreciated. I like the fact that some of you have picked up on the way I’ve painted this, giving colour to what’s locked inside the gates. I realise during lockdown I’ve done a few sketches like this : not sure it was intended but the idea/feeling is obviously in my head somewhere!

Loved the sketch before the colour but love this even more. I feel enticed through the gate to denied delights! Agree about all these NT houses and gardens being closed, hope that they all survive!

Thank you Diane. Fingers crossed they will be able to open next spring.

This lovely National Trust house is quite near where I live. Still closed at present, but I was able to stop outside the main gate to sketch this , pen with watercolour added at home.
