Amusing picture; such a shame it was in such terrible circumstances.

I must admit I had quite a few tears here. Each baby has its own keeper, one to one they go every evening into their own little stable have a huge bottle of formula , the lie down on a little mattress and have a blanket tucked around them , close their eyes and away with the fairies. The keeper/ mum... big black chaps sleep in a bunk bed in the same stable. So inspirational.

So moving, and what a clear description of the babies going to bed. And there are those who say animals have no feelings! I understand they become devoted to their 'keepers' Love the snaking trunk.

Hi Sylvia I think I've seen them on TV brought tears to my eyes too...you should write a book about your Africa travelling accompanied by your wonderful paintings. I just love this painting tells a story

Lovely little sketch. Thank you for telling us how well the babes are looked after. I know about the ivory poachers through tele programs. So sad.

You have captured the moment well........ we echo the other peoples feelings entirely you should write a book about your travels.

Great sketch - great capture! Hope you're having a great holiday

A poignant, touching experience ;-O I appreciate your art, and attitude of life very much :-)

Hello Sylvia, thank you for visiting my gallery and for your encouraging comments on my work. I'm fairly new to this forum and am always happy to discover new names here! You have a lovely gallery, and my favorites are your Kenya doodles! I love the spontaneity and humor of the drawings. This one, in particular, speaks to me because I was in Tanzania with some friends a few years back when an elephant trunk came through the loo window in search of water!

Quick simple sketch, pen and wash, first day of my holiday in Kenya.... We went to an elephant orphanage (yes I did adopt one) It is a wonderful place in Nairobi. Many tiny elephants, abandoned, parents killed by ivory poachers. Sould write a book about my visit. This is a trunk I saw snaking through the wooden slats for a drink.
