Absolutely stunning portrait.

Looks like a photo, amazed it's superb.

Amazing work 'Swinley Group.'

Wonderful portrait. Very skilful.

What is the media please?

I also think this is a photograph.

It is not a photo Sylvia, Laura is a renowned, respected, prize winning artist whose oil paintings have received widespread acclaim both in the UK and abroad.

Incidentally Sylvia, Beth Burke is Chairperson of The Swinley Group + member of the Denbighshire Art Society and has exhibited extensively especially in North Wales at the Royal Cambrian, DAS and many other galleries. She lives in Rhos on Sea.

When you magnify the image the photo pixels are quite evident.

Snag is, when you post one photograph - I know it wasn't deliberate - you do raise a question about other photo-realistic paintings. This one - it's the detailing in the fabric which suggests it's not all done with paint: but that's a problem, if it IS a problem, with photo-realism. It's a pity that screens have their limitations - good though this website is, no screen can show all of the tell-tale marks that proves it's a painting when it's painted in this exacting way.

For the benefit of the 2 doubters and cynics, please go to the link below where Laura discusses her painting (yes painting) in this interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yL5fUw2Myqw Btw any pixels present in the above portrait photo, are because it's a photo of a painting. If you do not like her work that's fine but to attack her integrity is not particularly edifying.

No one is attacking anyones integrity. If this is a painted as you say I will be full of admiration. But as Robert says you strongly denied that another painting was not a photograph but was Oil on Board and then it was revealed that it WAS a photograph. Plus I note another one has been removed. It would also be good it the artist themselves posted their work with details. . It is interesting to know how and how things have been created. Not just an anonymous post with almost no information. Maybe if this had been done initially misunderstandings would not have happened.

Thanks for your comment but the artists you refer to can exhibit individually if they wish to. It happens that we represent them as a collective on this site, and Max's portrait was removed because of the honest error which we apologise for. All other works of the many displayed are original and genuinely done by each artist. Good luck with your own work.

I concur entirely Sylvia. My experience on this site is that we always give credit where it’s due and question anything which isn’t clear in a manner of good faith. Our questions and queries were made respectfully and in good faith based on the information given in the listings. Thank goodness we live in a democratic society where freedom of speech, criticism and academic argument prevail. This anonymous speaker is the author of their own problems which would not occur if a clear and honest description is given. There is a section here where we are encouraged to state the nature and characteristics of the piece we’re uploading. As it is, the economical descriptions given of the images and the obvious irritation caused by asking honest questions reflects a commercial arrogance to me which most ‘leisure’ Painters will find divisive and intellectually empty. Such is the nature of the market.

Thank you for your kind comments Michael, your opinion is noted and we are all free to disagree if we wish. In this case we do agree to disagree but very best wishes to you.

One of my favourites at the BP show!! Amazing detail!!
