Poppy fields in The Lot

I like this very much. You have caprured the full hues of the flowers and vegetation. There seems to be a horse training ring in front of the chateau. Perhaps the chateau roof should be horizontal? I painted the chateau d'Oigny in September. There are similarities to your painting, so I shall have to put it up.

I guess it does look like that looking at it - I don't remember why i was like that - but perhaps its a crop circle appearing - mysterious. its just near where we live here in France so I will have to go and have a look . I will watch out for your paintings to go up . thanks for the comments

I agree with Barrie about the chateau (horizontal?) but really like the quirkiness of this pastel composition and wondered, when I looked at it, if the chateau was done like that for effect . (Alice in Wonderland type style!!) However, I must admit , before I knew Barrie had commented, I thought the same. I was intending commenting that while it is on a hill, buildings tend to be built into the hill and never on it, following the slope. It might be worth a slight adjustment for accuracy but be careful not to faff too much and lose the quirkiness of your strokes and marks. They give the painting movement and I like this about it. Too much adjustment can often lose the initial spontaneity of your response to the initial reason you chose to paint it. Would welcome your comments on mine (posted 12th Jan) Jean

I couldn't resist the stunning poppy fields around us this summer.
