A Quercus Frainetto leaf
When I began the painting, I did not know the name of the leaf/tree from which it came. I had seen a colour pencil drawing by an artist and I decided to paint this in watercolour. It looks very strange but leaves do have multiple mottled effects. I used a gloss varnish on parts of the leaf. In English, it is the leaf of an Italian or Macedonian oak tree.
