I recently found a copy of a book entitled 'Paint your own masterpiece' whhich explained the steps taken by old (and not so old) masters in creating their works of art. Although this example used acrylics rather than oils the underpainting and addition of glazes were all explained in a way I'd never fully understood before and this is the end result.
