Thank you for the encouraging comments. I'm looking forward to using oils more often from now on, as I found the extended drying times and the ability to blend colours more easily a revelation compared to acrylic. It definitely needs more planning to avoid over-working areas, but it's certainly a much more subtle medium.

Oil on canvas, 8"x12". My first try at painting in oil. I won third place in a painting competition and the prize was a nice set of oil paints so I thought I'd better have a go at using them! It's my first attempt at painting glass too, so it's not quite up to the same standard as the fruit!

I first started painting in March 2017 after a starter box of acrylic paints had sat on my shelf for fifteen years. After sorting out the tubes that had dried up and buying a better selection of brushes, I finally jumped into this wonderful hobby and I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
