Had to trawl the site to find things, given the speed at which things have been pushed off the front page, so missed this at first. There's a lot of life in this, and energy: what, I wonder, gave you the most trouble? The trees at the right, maybe? (I don't ask this because I sense anything wrong with them, it's just that I can imagine they would have been difficult.) Like your perspective and variety of colour and tones; this works really well.

Thanks for your comments Robert. I don't think the computer does justice to some art work, and my painting is a little more vibrant than it seems on here. Didn't really have any difficulty, although left the river till last as I'm not experienced at painting water, but was pleased with this outcome. Will try and do some more river scenes as the River Severn is only a few minutes away by car, and I did enjoy working with the greens.

I think this is great Stephen, I really like the style of work through your progression of the 14 paintings. I think this is very well executed throughout to the far bend in the river. Very good perspective and colours used. I especially like your use of colours in the water and the flow. Very good painting in deed :) I think maybe a dragonfly or kingfisher perched on the branch on the right hand side bank or a form of insect or wildlife would bring this to total life! If you don't mind the suggestion.

Thanks for the comments Paul, I'm learning all of the time. I had thought of a kingfisher or other bird, but in the end chickened out! Thought it might detract too much, although when I was sitting on the rocks sketching, rooks and pigeons were constantly coming down to the river. It's varnished now, so will be off to the framers with my other river painting.

40cm x 50cm on boxed canvas. I sat on the rocks by the R Severn a month ago and sketched this scene. Then went back later to take some photographs. It was so peaceful and beautiful and I just loved the greens. My first river painting, but I will do more as I enjoyed it so much. Jackfield is about half a mile downstream of Ironbridge.
