The Orang-utan is struggling to exist and I wanted to paint ,what I thought to be a powerful portrait, of this gentle animal with its baby, to help illustrate how man is destroying its natural forest habitat to grow palm oil. This portrait is one of a series I have painted of wild animals species who are becoming extinct, including the big cats. Painted in pastel chalk on pastel paper.
