Love the bright little barge disapearing under the bridge and the tree's fading into the background, also like your handling of the right hand bank

Many thanks Ros for your encouragement once again.

Stephen you will see in my reply to your post re my Dun Cow that I am encouraging helpful comments with no hard feelings. I don't know if you agree with this but I feel the posts re the gallery are mainly too congratulatory. Would you mind if I comment on this? The red barge really hits me. ?worth trying to knock it back a bit.? Easily done by laying a piece of green (complimentary colour) cellophane over it and see if you like the result. I know that some will not agree. Art appreciation is such a personal thing. Maybe I am teaching my granny how to suck eggs but some of your paintings are nice and loose and others are a but tighter. My own preference is for your looser ones. Which style do you prefer? I am grateful for the interest you have shown in my gallery and please keep the critiques coming. I may not agree with you but I will not be offended.

Thanks for your constructive comments Alan. I do find it easier to paint in a loose way. My drawing skills are not too good but I do try to paint in a more detailed way sometimes, to try and progress.

Well painted and I like the composition with this one. I do agree with Alan's comments re the red on the boat. Also if the path to the left were to narrow a bit towards the top it would help a bit with recession. Like Alan hope you don't mind me commenting. .

Thanks Michael for your thoughtful comments. I did work from a photo, which can make you 'switch off'' and just concentrate on copying. The red of the boat is darker on the photo, which takes some of the strength off it , must try to adjust it . I think the angle of the bridge on the left reveals more of the path but it does look a bit odd now you mention it. I think it is good to receive constructive criticism from fellow artists.

From a photo I took from a canal bridge last Autumn.
