Lovely watercolour Stephen, love the scene fading into the misty background, very effective winter landscape, limited colour palette works really well

Joe Hush is one of my favourite artists and you have made a super job of this watercolour version. A few years ago he did a demo in LP in acrylic of a woodland scene which I then did in pastel and I thoroughly enjoyed doing it, I learned a lot from the experience.

You did a splendid job, Stephen! The tonal work is superb, and the atmospheric perspective is really well done.

I didn't see the original but this is beautiful!

Many thanks everyone for your encouraging comments, much appreciated.

Nice one Stephen, love the atmosphere you have created, even though I have not seen the one by Joe Hush.

I haven't seen the Joe Hush painting either, and must look him up. But he's inspired a very attractive watercolour.

Thanks again Peter and Robert for your encouragement. Robert, Joe hush has a really good website with a large selection of his paintings. Watercolour, Acrylic and OIls. Well worth a peruse.

Really atmospheric,I did recognise composition as Joe's. You have done him proud, I think this is beautiful.

Thanks Carole, that's encouragingm that you recognise Joe's painting in it.

I thought I would have a try at the lovely painting by Joe Hush in the January issue of Leisure Painter. As the step by step article was for an acrylic painting I based mine on the final stage. I enjoyed the exercise, although it falls well short of Mr. Hush's fine painting!

I am a self taught amateur painter, I mostly paint landscapes in watercolour but I 'dabble' in other mediums from time to time. I really enjoy my art, especially painting outdoors when the weather allows.
