Yes its lovely Stephen and you are right snow looks great as long as it doesnt last too long! This reminds me of the PO monthly painting challenge from couple months back where they painted a similar scene without the snow!

Such an appealing freshness to this image. No fuss, just the biz.

Many thanks, Ann, Ros and Kim for your encouraging comments.

Thanks once again, Gudrun.

Gosh that was quick.Looks realy good.Thi nk i might wander along to the new art group in springhead this morning to see whats going on.p

Thanks Pauline, let me know how you get on with the group, do they let grumpy old men in?

Nice one Stephen, love the overall affect. Admire people that can paint loose.

Many thanks Peter, I suppose we are never satisfied with our own work, I admire your skills and patience in producing your lovely more detailed watercolours.

This is a really lovely watercolour Stephen, it caught my eye in the thumbnails. Those trees are particularly well painted.

A lovely watercolour Stephen.

Many thanks Val and Denise for your kind comments.

very nice work, Stephen, good compostion and I love your sombre trees.

Thanks for your thoughtful comments Jenny.

Love everything about this painting Stephen

Thank you for your kind comments Petra.

Really like this one did you darken the ruts in the road. Went to the class painted a seagull, mine looked like a cross between a chicken duck and seagull, decided i must draw more.

Thanks Pauline, no I left the ruts as they were, I think everythig looks clearer on the site, possibly due to the brightness of the screen? I have added a bit of snow with acrylic white in the forks of some tree branches. Never tried painting a seagull bet it's hard, I know where I am with trees!

A splendid piece, Stephen, stunningly executed!

I haven't been able to visit the site for quite a while, but my eye was drawn to this lovely painting, Stephen. The cool and warm colours work so well, and are just right. I particularly like the variation in the wall stone colours. And your skills really have developed - hope that doesn't sound patronising - because I've missed a few weeks/months I can very much see that. It's encouraging - it shows that with regular practice we can't help but improve!

Thanks once again Seok for your encouragement.

Many thanks Caroline for your thoughtful comments.

Yea, this is a stunning piece, I think one of your best paintings.

Many thanks Fred, I'm quite pleased how it turned out (for once!)

Thanks Helen for your comments. The method for painting wintry twigs / light foliage on trees involves using a 'dry brush' i.e. a brush with most of the wash wiped off. Holding the brush parallel with the paper, use quick strokes lightly touching the paper. It takes a bit of practice! I'm sure there must be examples on you tube.

This has an utterly authentic feel to it, but it is loose and expressive as well - that's a rare skill to pull those two things together! Great painting.

Your lovely comments are much appreciated Thea. I'm pleasantly surprised at response to this one.

From a photo I took last week, all the snows gone now (thank goodness) but it looks good as an image.
