I love painting in a direct way Stephen as I'm never quite sure how they'll work out but feel that I haven't spent too much time trying. For me, there's nothing worse than spending time, placing all the details etc for things to go wrong near the finish and then, as it's watercolour not finding it easy to put right. I sometimes add my washes while the rigger lines are still wet so the paint runs and merges to good effect. This painting of yours is super. It has a relaxed feel to it and the foliage at the top worked out perfectly! I'm following this with interest!

Excellent work, Stephen! Clean, well drawn and sparkling. Everything a good watercolor should be!

many thanks once again Louise and Seok,, much appreciated.

Another quick watercolour using Louise's method of drawing with a rigger brush. This time I used different colours for each section of the scene so that the lines would not show after I added the washes. Certainly an exciting way to paint, if a bit scary!

I am a self taught amateur painter, I mostly paint landscapes in watercolour but I 'dabble' in other mediums from time to time. I really enjoy my art, especially painting outdoors when the weather allows.
