Looks like evening sun colouring the buildings with a beautiful golden glow.

I love the warm atmosphere of this one Stephen. The light on the side of the far building works well as do the windows and chimneys. Interesting that you painted it quickly as I feel it's one of your best!

Many thanks Satu and Louise. My drawing skills aren't that great Louise, so I always think my paintings work better when. I don't I work simply.

I agree with Satu and Louise: this is a very atmospheric painting, Stephen. I like it very much.

May thanks for your always encouraging comments Mia.

Very, very nice Stephen, lovely warm glow in your buildings, especially the one on the right. What colours do you use for your sandstone buildings?

Many thanks once again Fiona. I used a palette of blu, Paynes grey, raw sienna, burnt sienna and a little green and red for the signs. The walls were combinations of raw sienna, burnt sienna and grey. I'm afraid there isn't much planning or colour theory in my painting!

Mine neither Stephen, but you've hit a winning combination here for old sandstone. Have you tried Raw Umber in a mix for stone?

I have got some Raw umber but don't often use it, I will have a go next time, I've got a few more photos from my Yorkshire trip Fiona.

Good! You can do some more of these lovely stone mixes, I look forward to seeing them. I lived in Yorkshire for a while; a place called Rudding Park near a village called Follifoot, this painting reminds me very much of that village.

A superb piece, Stephen. I really like the olde worlde atmosphere of this painting.

!any thanks once again Seok for your always encouraging comments.

I painted this quickly at the art group tonight, from a photo I took on the way back from holiday in Scarborough. I drew the image with a sharpened matchstick and Indian ink, to try and get a loose effect. I then added a few watercolour washes. a bit rough and ready but great fun!
